Hundreds of Rio Grande Valley residents woke up Friday morning to discover a trail of property damage and power failures. A strong storm moved through the Valley early Friday morning bringing showers, thunderstorms and hail. The storm was part of a cold front that moved through the area beginning in Starr County and then it quickly moved eastward through other parts of the Valley. The National Weather Service reported wind gusts up to 86 miles per out at the Valley International Airport in Harlingen.
