While the United States is the richest country in the world, American workers receive the fewest vacation days. Worse, yet, our busy work schedules and loyalty to the company often prevent us from taking advantage of the vacation days we do receive. According to the World Tourism Organization, the average American gets 13 vacation days per year, compared with their counterparts in Italy (42), France (37), German (35), Brazil (34), United Kingdom (28), Canada (26), Korea (25), and Japan (25).
