One of the worldâs leading experts on tropical glaciers leads an ascent of the 18,500 foot (5.6 kilometers) Quelccaya Ice Cap. Near Cuzco, Peru, the ice cap is the worldâs largest tropical glacier. In 30 years of monitoring, scientists have observed a 30% reduction in the size of this glacier, which is now smaller than itâs been in 5,000 years.
