The Sunday Long VideoTime: 1:21:15 I had no idea until today that comic legend Dan Akroyd is the most serious and studied of UFOlogists. This hour-plus long documentary features David Sereda interviews a constantly smoking Dan Akroyd. Whether you believe in UFOs or not, or whether you believe UFOs are nothing but military projects, this makes for some entertaining and interesting watching. I don't see how he comes up with some of his conclusions. For example, he seems to arbitrarily draw a connection between human damage to the earth and extraterrestrial visitation. He also (as do many UFO believers) operates with an anthropomorphic interpretation of UFO phenomena. Some of the personal testimony of former astronauts and NASA contractors is pretty compelling, as are the clips from the windows of orbiting spacecraft. If it were somebody else other than Dan Akroyd, another person would seem like a nutjob saying all this stuff. But because it's a person who's known for comedy, he comes off as being exceptionally serious when he's only being as being serious as any body else. There is a moment later in the film where Akroyd says he's into UFOs because it's a huge, fun, entertaining challenge. And that doesn't seem too crazy.
