Description:
In 1989 Prince William Sound in southern Alaska was hit with one of the worst manmade, environmental disasters of all time. The now infamous Exxon Valdez oil tanker struck a reef on its way out to sea and spilled 11 million gallons of crude oil into the ocean. The result was an ecological catastrophe of which the true impact is still not fully understood almost 20 years later. What is known is that fish populations have plummeted, marine wildlife has left the area and the subsistence fishermen of the sound have lost their income and their way of life. Can we really afford to let this happen again? Is it worth the risk to the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve just so that our dependence on oil is extended by another decade or two? Get the answers in Part Two of "Oil On Ice".
