The Shadow 1937-1954
The shadow was amateur criminologist Lamont Cranston. He had learned -the hypnotic power to cloud mens minds so that they cannot see him-. The opening to the show, -Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of men the Shadow knows-. His friend and companion, the lovely Margo Lane, is the only person who knows to whom the voice of the invisible Shadow belongs. Together they confront the maddest assortment of lunatics, sadists, ghosts and werewolves ever heard on the air.
The Shadow not only kept millions of listeners glued to their radios for over 25 years, but he also ushered in a new era of pulp heroes with over 325 adventures recorded in his self-titled pulp magazine.
Created by Walter B. Gibson, The Shadow was radios most famous mystery man who dominated the airwaves during Radios Golden Age. The Shadow became one of the most recognized and well known radio programs of all time, running from July 31, 1930 through December 26, 1954.
