SANDY, Ore. -andnbsp;History was made on the Sandy River this past week when Portland General Electric began tearing down the century-old Marmot Dam. Aandnbsp;concrete dam of its size has never been removed in the western U.S. to help save wild salmon. But Grant McOmie explains that there could be a risk to salmon this fall by taking the dam down now. The blast is also just the first stage of a larger project that affects the entire Sandy River watershed.
