Mick secured the 2007 Foster's ASP World Title as well as successfully defending his Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro title in Imbituba, Brazil. The World Title chase started to unravel when Kelly Slater was defeated in Round 4 eliminating him from contention. Then in the Quarter Finals the remaining contender Taj Burrow was eliminated resulting in Mick securing his maiding World Title. He then defeated close friend Joel Parkinson in the first Semifinal to meet Kai Otton in the final heat of the event.
