From : American Conservative University Podcast
Show 241 Part 2 of 2. Islam: What the West Needs to Know. Audio version of the film documentary. To see the free video visit Google Video - Islam: What the West needs to know. ACU highly recommends this documentary. Documentary description-An examination of Islam, violence, and the fate of the non-Muslim world. Virtually every major Western leader has over the past several years expressed the view that Islam is a peaceful religion and that those who commit violence in its name are fanatics who misinterpret its tenets. This claim, while widely circulated, rarely attracts serious public examination. Now, the question is finally being asked, Is Islam itself violent? Through an examination of the Koran, other Islamic texts, and the example of the prophet Muhammad, this documentary establishes, through a sober and methodical presentation, that violence against non-Muslims is and has always been an integral aspect of Islam. Jihad, while best translated as struggle, as represented in the Koran and the life of Muhammad, means nothing less than organized warfare against unbelievers. Relying primarily on Islam's own sources, this documentary demonstrates that Islam is a violent, expansionary ideology that seeks the destruction or subjugation of other faiths, cultures, and systems of government. The documentary consists of original interviews, citations from Islamic texts, Islamic artwork, computer-animated maps, footage of Western leaders, and Islamic television broadcasts. Its tone is sober, methodical, and compelling. Features interviews with noted experts on Islam including Robert Spencer, Serge Trifkovic, Bat Ye'or, Abdullah Al-Araby, and former terrorist Walid Shoebat.

From : American Conservative University Podcast
Show 237 Dennis Prager talks to Dick Morris, columnist for the New York Post and renown political commentator. His latest book is Fleeced: How Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Media Mockery of Terrorist Threats, Liberals Who Want to Kill Talk Radio, the Do-Nothing Congress, Companies ... Are Scamming Us ... and What to Do About It. 35 minutes 8MB Here are the facts: The United States has released 425 terrorists from GuantÃnamo, at least 50 of whom have returned to the battlefield to fight our troops. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both say they're fiscally responsible. But each has called for $1 trillion in tax increases over the next ten yearsâand dressed them up as tax cuts! Mainstream Media has been given marching orders from the Society of Professional Journalists: never refer to Islamic terrorists or Muslim terrorists. And they are obeying! Whenever our brave agents disrupt a terror plot, The media dismisses the culprits as a gang of idiotsâlulling us into a false sense of security. If the liberals win the 2008 election, they will cripple talk radioâforcing stations to give equal time to left-wing programs, and insisting that liberals play a key role in station management. Up to a quarter of all state pension funds in the United States are invested in companies that are helping Iran, Syria, North Korea, or the Sudanâfor a total of nearly $200 billion. The Do-Nothing Congress is still doing nothingâand the worst offenders are the presidential candidates Clinton, Obama, and McCain, who never show up for their day jobs as senators . . . except to pick up their $165,000 paycheck! Is it any wonder that Americans feel fleeced at every turn? As more and more critical problems develop that need national attention, the White House and Congress appear to be AWOL. Who's calling the shots instead? Big business, big government, big labor, and big lobbyists. And their self-serving agendas are doing nothing to help the ever-increasing number of American people who are losing their homes, paying credit card interest rates higher than 25 percent, and finding their jobs increasingly outsourced to foreign countries. In this hard-hitting call to arms, Dick Morris and Eileen McGann reveal the hundreds of ways American tax-payers are routinely fleecedâby our own government; by foreign countries like Dubai that are gobbling up American interests and spending millions to influence government decisions and American public opinion; by Washington lobbying firms that are pushing the agendas of corrupt foreign dictators on Capitol Hill; and by hedge-fund billionaires collecting huge tax breaks courtesy of the IRS. With their characteristic blend of sharp analysis and insider insight, Morris and McGann call offenders of all kinds on the carpetâand offer practical agendas we all can follow to help turn the tide. From : The Faculty Podcast
It has become commonplace in American political discourse for Christian evangelicals to assert that the United States was founded as a "Christian nation" and that in recent decades secularists have gained control and distorted our nation's founding traditions and values. In this lecture, Professor Geoffrey Stone examines the beliefs of the Framers on this question. What did they think about Christianity, about the role of Christianity in the American nation, and about the relationship between religion generally and self-governance? The answers to these questions are important not only to constitutional interpretation, but even more fundamentally to an understanding of who we are – and who we are supposed to be – as a nation. Geoffrey Stone is Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago Law School. This talk was recorded April 21, 2008 as part of the Chicago's Best Ideas lecture series.

From : American Conservative University Podcast
Show 236 Whos Giving? Author Arthur C. Brooks discusses charity at the Heritage Foundation in Washington DC. To watch the video of this speech visit Arthur C. Brooks at the Heritage Foundation A charity divide runs through America: three-quarters of Americans contribute their time and money to various causes, while the rest of the population does not, according to Arthur C. Brooks, a leading scholar on economics and public policy. Brooks' research identifies the factors driving American charity, including strong families, church attendance, and the belief that social ills are best addressed by individuals rather than government. Brooks' findings have significant implications for policy debates on pressing issues like welfare reform, urban policy, the estate tax, education, and church/state questions. Charity matters, says Brooks, not only to individual donors and recipients who benefit directly, but also to the prosperity and self-government of America as a whole. Arthur C. Brooks has authored numerous articles and books related to charity and civic life. He is professor of public administration at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and is a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal. Aurthur C. Brooks, author of Who Really Cares. The suprising truth about compassionate conservativism. We all know we should give to charity, but who really does? In Who Really Cares, he demonstrates conclusively that conservatives really are compassionate-far more compassionate than their liberal foes. Strong families, church attendance, earned income (as opposed to state-subsidized income), and the belief that individuals, not government, offer the best solution to social ills-all of these factors determine how likely one is to give. Charity mattersânot just to the givers and to the recipients, but to the nation as a whole. It is crucial to our prosperity, happiness, health, and our ability to govern ourselves as a free people. From : American Conservative University Podcast
Show 234 The Case for Traditional Marriage. In face of same-sex marriages becoming legal in California, Dennis makes the case for the importance for the traditional definition of marriage and the consequences of abandoning it. Segment 2- The Right to Love. That's how the Los Angeles Times headlined their editorial endorsing same sex marriage. The right to love? Is that what same sex marriage is about? If it is, why not endorse polygamy? The other argument the Los Angeles Times makes is that banning same sex marriage is like banning interracial marriage. It s a silly argument. There are no differences between the races except skin color. But there are major differences between men and women. But this doesn't matter. If you oppose same sex marriage you are a racist, according to Los Angeles Times. 71 minutes 16MB Download all of Dennis Pragers shows free at: http://www.townhall.com/talkradio/Show.aspx?RadioShowID=3 ITunes users search Townhall.com-Dennis Prager for all of Pragers show.- Best podcast out there. From : American Conservative University Podcast
Show 233 Michael Medved talks to author of The Devil s Delusion, David Berlinski. 37 minutes 8MB Book Description: Militant atheism is on the rise. Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, and Christopher Hitchens have dominated bestseller lists with books denigrating religious belief as dangerous foolishness. And these authors are merely the leading edge of a far larger movement-one that now includes much of the scientific community. The attack on traditional religious thought,â writes David Berlinski in The Devil's Delusion, marks the consolidation in our time of science as the single system of belief in which rational men and women might place their faith, and if not their faith, then certainly their devotion.â A secular Jew, Berlinski nonetheless delivers a biting defense of religious thought. An acclaimed author who has spent his career writing about mathematics and the sciences, he turns the scientific community s cherished skepticism back on itself, daring to ask and answer some rather embarrassing questions: Has anyone provided a proof of God's inexistence? Not even close. Has quantum cosmology explained the emergence of the universe or why it is here? Not even close. Have the sciences explained why our universe seems to be fine-tuned to allow for the existence of life? Not even close. Are physicists and biologists willing to believe in anything so long as it is not religious thought? Close enough. Has rationalism in moral thought provided us with an understanding of what is good, what is right, and what is moral? Not close enough. Has secularism in the terrible twentieth century been a force for good? Not even close to being close. Is there a narrow and oppressive orthodoxy of thought and opinion within the sciences? Close enough. Does anything in the sciences or in their philosophy justify the claim that religious belief is irrational? Not even ballpark. Is scientific atheism a frivolous exercise in intellectual contempt? Dead on. Berlinski does not dismiss the achievements of western science. The great physical theories, he observes, are among the treasures of the human race. But they do nothing to answer the questions that religion asks, and they fail to offer a coherent description of the cosmos or the methods by which it might be investigated. This brilliant, incisive, and funny book explores the limits of science and the pretensions of those who insist it can be-indeed must be-the ultimate touchstone for understanding our world and ourselves.
