ABC News and Mefeedia
We are very excited to to let everyone know that Mefeedia is working with the ABC News – i-Caught show and website to help discover great videos and report on online video trends, particularly in the vlogosphere.
Based on some initial conversations that we have had with their team, they have “really liked the subjects Mefeedia brought because they give [i-Caught] a nice change up from what the typical viral video expert will talk to.”
What does this mean?
Great stories are great stories, and the vlogosphere is telling many of them! MeFeedia will help ABC discover such stories through our platform, tools, and analytics available at mefeedia.com and send them links to videos that are being discovered on Mefeedia.com. Of course, ABC will contact each video producer directly to get permission to use your video should they decide that they would like to.
Why Mefeedia?
Mefeedia brings a different perspective than YouTube and many of the other “viral” video sites. We help people discover great indie videos – videos from indie video producers / the vlogosphere.
How are videos discovered on Mefeedia?
Great videos and videoblogs are discovered on Mefeedia in many ways! These include:
- Social Network / Your Friends (see what frank, mike, and devlon from Mefeedia are watching, for example)
- Favs
- Recommendations
- Metrics (both available to the public and internal metrics to the Mefeedia team)
- Subscribed feeds
- Comments
Playlists such as:
- Citizen Journalism
- The Best of the Vlogosphere
- Interesting Canadian Vlogs
- Vloggersations
- (Your playlist here - Join Mefeedia and join one of these playlists as an editor, or create your own).
Guides such as:
- Travel vlogs
- Local / Hyperlocal / Citizen Journalism
- Mobile Videoblogging
- Experimental Video blogs
- (Your Guide here - Join Mefeedia and create your own guide).
How can I get involved?
- Keep producing great videos.
- Add your feed to Mefeedia (we are looking at the entire vlogosphere, but it would certainly help to have your feed in Mefeedia’s directory already…).
- Join Mefeedia and start Faving, recommend, subscribe to, add to your queue, become friends - use all of the tools to discover great videos and that will help us discover great videos!
- We will have a special section on our site soon devoted to this project.
You could, of course, submit your videos to the i-Caught site.
What about the Show versus the Website?
Their website will launch soon and show videos. The show will be broadcast at night on ABC nationwide, and will start with a set number of shows. Mefeedia will be providing our favorite videos to the website (ABC won’t post without permission of the creator) and who we think would be great to interview on the show, although ABC can not make any commitments as to who will or won’t be on.
We hope to help those creators who would like increased exposure, and, most importantly, to bring attention to the great talent and stories to people who appreciate it.
