Videoblogging Week Day 6 - Taking The Mefeedia Video Kiosk Into Your Inventory
Yesterday, I mentioned how I was able to “take” the Mefeedia Video Kiosk object and how we’ve configured it to be freely available for others to copy and modify.
Today, I’m going to walk you through this process step by step.
Please do let me know if you set up the kiosk on your own land, and send me a movie or screengrab of it, if you can, along with the slurl to your location, so I can feature it here on our blog.
Try mixing your own personal channel on mefeedia of your favorite vlogs and podcasts and then putting your feed into the kiosk.
The kiosk will also play podcasts and MP3 files; Anything supported by the Quicktime player. (The player will skip over any non-quicktime compatible media it encounters.)
It also has built in Mefeedia tag support.
Just type in: “/82 mefeedia tag=tag name” in the chat box on the bottom of your SL screen interface, and the kiosk will automatically load in the RSS feed for that tag.
The instructions below are demonstrated in today’s video.
Grabbing your own Mefeedia Kiosk Object
If you click on an object, you will get it’s read me file. If you cntrl click or right click, you will get a little wheel shaped option menu.
Step One: Cntrl-click or right click on the object to bring up the option wheel, and click on “More”

Step Two: Click on “Take Copy”

Step Three: Confirm that the object has been placed in your “Inventory.”
Look under the “objects” carrot to see if the item has been obtained.

Check your “Inventory Item Properties” to see how the object is configured for being shared and modified.
If you see the object in your inventory, select it and double click on it to bring up the “Inventory Item Properties” dialog box, which allows you to see whether you’re allowed to copy or modify the object.
Important Note: The Mefeedia Video Kiosk is both freely available and configured to allow the code to be modified. We’re hoping that the community might contribute to its gradual improvement so we can all keep making it better and better.
